A few yards from the pounding Atlantic Ocean on the North Carolina Outer Banks is an Episcopal church that has provided a refuge from stormy weather for nearly 100 years. St. Andrew's By-The-Sea is a safe harbor from both natural tempests and the whirlwinds and rough waters that too often characterize modern life. It is a place of peace and contemplation, where the people of the Outer Banks — resident and visitor alike — are invited to find fellowship and to seek and explore the mystery of God through the teachings of His Son, Jesus Christ.

NEW RECTOR
We are excited to announce that The Reverend Philip R. Glick will serve as the next rector for St. Andrew’s. Phil and his wife Barbara have three grown children and one grandchild. Phil's first Sunday will be August 22, 2010. Prior to answering our call, Phil served as Brigade Chaplin (Lieutenant Colonel) for the 30th Heavy Brigade Combat Team Deployed to Iraq from 2008 to February 2010. There he was the spiritual leader for over 4,100 soldiers, airmen and civilians and supervised seven battalion chaplains and chaplain assistants. Prior to his service in Iraq, Phil was the rector at Saint David’s Episcopal Church in Richmond, Virginia from 2001 to 2008. He also served at the Rector of Saint Thomas’ Episcopal Church in Ahoskie from 1989 to 2000.Again, many thanks to the members of the search committee who collectively put in over 600 hours in this process.
