About Our Church

Who We Are

Greetings,
What an exciting year we are beginning!  The vestry has been hard at work planning for a busy fall.  We are taking the lead in guiding St. Andrews toward a path of renewed energy, growth, and nourishment.  Our goal is to nourish all those who are already within our fold, and to bring more in to share our faith and God’s love.  In order to accomplish this mission, everyone in our church family must work together.  All of us are responsible for the future of St. Andrew’s by the Sea.

As we begin the process of searching for a new rector, we must consider what that person will see when he looks at us.  What do we want them to see?  The vestry hopes that our new rector will see a warm and healthy parish where many contribute their individual talents to form a loving and welcoming Christian Family.  We are blessed with many different ages, talents and experiences within St. Andrews, and with some organization, determination, and hard work, we are faithful that we can make this vision a reality.

Each of the vestry members is now in charge of one ministry within the church.  These ministries are somewhat similar to what we previously referred to as our “areas of responsibility” but there is a big shift in the way we are approaching them.  Instead of the vestry member himself or the rector handling the bulk of the work associated with the ministry, we are working to organize and direct teams of church members to carry out each ministry within St. Andrews.  Our church has grown beyond the size that any one person can carry out all that needs to be done.  It’s time for us all to step up and take responsibility for our future.

There are many opportunities for involvement, and we need everyone’s participation for the church to function as we should.  I encourage you to take some time and think and pray about how you can best contribute to our church family. Have you always wanted to sing in the choir?  Staff the Food Pantry?  Be an Usher?  Organize a singles group?  Start a dinner group?  Teach a class?  Now is the time to take that step.  In the coming weeks the vestry will be taking several opportunities to share all of the exciting new plans that we have made, and we look forward to working with you to bring our vision for St. Andrews to fruition.

God’s Peace,
Emily Lewis
